What is the difference between stretch film and cling film
1. Different definitions
Stretch film, the earliest PVC based film produced in China, with DOA as a plasticizer and self adhesive.
Cling film is a type of plastic packaging product, usually made from ethylene as the mother material through polymerization reaction. Cling films can be divided into three categories: polyethylene PE, polyvinyl chloride PVC, and polyvinylidene chloride PVDC. Among them, PVC cling film contains carcinogen, which is harmful to human health. The production cost of PVDC cling film is too high, so PE cling film is the most widely used in the market.
2. Different uses of industrial stretch film
Cling film is generally used for wrapping cooked food in households, refrigeration in refrigerators, meat preservation, and protecting small items.
Stretch film is generally used for transportation packaging, such as wrapping packaging of large pallets, containers, and boxes, and can also be used for short distance transportation and sales packaging. Stretch film is used for packaging of daily necessities, stainless steel pipes, plastic pipes, profiles, plastic decorative boards, rolled floors, and rolled carpets. Mainly used to prevent items from scattering or scratching.
3. Different specifications of stretch film
The thickness of the stretch film is thicker than that of the cling film, and the size is larger than that of the cling film.
Household cling film generally has a large width of 30cm and a thickness of approximately 10um; The general size width of stretch film is 50cm and the thickness is about 20um.
4. Different stretching ratios of stretch film
The stretch film has a greater degree of stretching than the cling film. The stretch film is directly blown from LDPE through a blow molding machine, and its stretching ratio can reach 300% -500%. Meanwhile, the cling film has stickiness to the item, while the stretch film is self-adhesive
